Work Related

Apparently workers are liking work less as they have to work more. This seems to be driving us to doing other things at work and not working. Example: Blogging. Or maybe Fantasy Football? I know we have a bunch of leagues here, I guess its true for us too. Its easier to f off at work these days, if you work with the internet. I think at some point there will be a way to regulate this, but companies haven’t worked it out yet, well some have, but not all of them. Some restrict web use, but other’s haven’t decided to implement that because its costly and time consuming.

Property Values

I have been looking at the prices of homes and real estate here lately. I bought a number of years ago and haven’t seen a lot of growth in my place’s value because there are soooo many condos in Chicago. They turn every apartment building into condos, and the build a bunch of new buildings too, so there are ton of them on the market all the time. If you have a single family house its better, and you can see a 5% value increase every year in or around Chicago. I wasn’t so lucky to be able to afford a house, so I’m a bit screwed if the market doesn’t pick up again. The thing that worries me is that the interest rates are rising too, so that makes it ever harder to jump to a house property that will appreciate better.  I’ve seen 6.5-6.8% interest rates on home loans here lately among local ads and banks. Which isn’t bad, but I am predicting that it will keep rising quickly.

Fall & Autumn

I noticed this morning that it was cooler walking to work. It was maybe 65 degrees out, almost fall coat weather. This brings the idea of fall clothes shopping to mind, but I will hold off for a while because I do have a full closet at the moment. Buying anything new would mean claening out the closet and I’m not looking forward to that gargantuan project. I am looking forward to the cooler days of fall though. When I don’t have to run the air conditioner and it isn’t humid like soup.

Allergy Season

Its that time of year again, when my allergies go crazy. I’ve gotten smarter about managing my allergies in the past few years. I take Claritin when I am around allergens and I prevent most of them by keeping the house as free of dust, mold and pollen as possible by cleaning frequently and cleaning the air.  One of the products that cleans the air is the Ionic Pro. It significantly reduces the allergens that cause allergies. It also works for pet dander, pollen, spores and dust in the air. Check it out for more information online.
