Beach Cruiser Bikes Vintage Styles are Back

Posted by: theprotagonist5 on: August 20, 2007

bikesI don’t know when this came back or how the trend started and then got big so fast, but the vintage style bikes that your parents used to ride in the 1950’s and 1960’s are back in style. I was looking for a bike a few months ago and I personally had a soft spot for the vintage cruiser style bikes. They were more comfortable to ride and they were less about climbing mountains and more precatical for a quick ride to the convienient store or a liesurley ride by the lake. So, I started looking on Craigslist for vintage bikes and found that most people who found them at garage sales were reselling them for 200-300 dollars! How crazy is that? My mom has one rusting away in her garage, she has no idea it is worth so much money. I quickly realized I could not afford a vintage bike, no matter how cute they were.

classic cruiser bikesI then found out that a lot of bike manufacturers are reproducing these vintage styles again and a much lower costs than the vintage ones for sale. And they’re new! No rust or parts to be replaced. So I went to look at some new cruiser bicycles and I found that they were just as nice as the old ones I remembered. And these are available for only $88.00 online. (which is cheaper than the ones I saw at Target) That is a very affordable deal. The only thing I found that was a problem is that I couldn’t find one in a 24 inch height when I was looking because I am short and need a smaller bike. These guys do offer that though. If you are looking for a comfortable liesure bike, come on back to the past. Your favorite old beach cruiser bikes are waiting for you.

Who doesn’t love classic cars? Seems everybody does and hollywood has jumped on the bandwagon too. You see them in just about every movie and TV show now.

[...] After receiving a tip from a friend that Craigslist has a large market for bicycles in Brooklyn, I did my own research and returned with a 1960s brown vintage cruiser. [...]

Does any body know anything about a vintage cruiser called a Flying O Monaco cruiser (otasco)? I can’t seem to find info on this bike anywhere. Any help is very appreciated.
