I heard last week that ComEd (the local power company in Illinois) was allowed by the government here in Illinois to raise its rates for the first time in several years. This is not good because they have said that in the middle of high cost heating season (Jan 07) they will raise electricity rates by a whopping 22%. That’s a huge increase for people who are already paying highly inflated prices for heating oil, gasoline for their car and the inflationary rise of all goods right now. I think that now is the time to start switching over to those squiggly flourescent bulbs that use 1/4 the electricity to light the same room. Its about the only easy way to save money on electricity. I already use them, so I just get to pay 22% more for my electricity each month. Grrr.
